Founded in 2014, the DUI Defense Lawyers Association (DUIDLA) is a new nationwide college dedicated to DUI Defense, with a focus on mastering scientific practices, principles, and defenses. Both Chuck and Dan are founding members of this organization, which was created "to promote excellence in aggressively defending those charged with DUI or DWI related crimes across the United States."

The National College for DUI Defense (NCDD) was established in 1995 and "dedicated to the improvement of the criminal defense bar, and to the dissemination of information to the public about DUI Defense Law as a specialty area of law practice." Both Chuck and Dan are members, and Chuck is an actual faculty member -- asked to teach other DWI attorneys across the nation, largely due to his unique knowledge of the intricacies of breath testing.

Since 2014, Chuck and Dan have been repeatedly asked to author chapters in Larry Wine's authoritative series "Understanding DUI Scientific Evidence." American Chemical Society (ACS-CHAL)
Like "poet-warrior" or "philosopher-king", the Chemistry and the Law Division of the American Chemical Society (an organization chartered by Congress with more than 161,000 members) developed the "ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientist Designation" to recognize attorneys that "use validated and legitimate science for the benefit of justice" and "expose invalid or non-validated science and use valid science in the courtroom." Chuck is the only attorney in Minnesota to have attained this designation.

Minnesota CLE Criminal Justice Institute
Chuck and Dan are regularly asked to be presenters at "continuing learning education" seminars (CLE's), which are classes geared towards keeping other attorneys up-to-date with the latest developments in the law. One annual event that they are particularly proud of is the "Criminal Justice Institute," a multi-day event held at the RiverCentre in St. Paul that has been going on for over half a century. Since 2014, Chuck and Dan have presented breakout sessions (and other, more targeted sessions).

Innocence Project of Minnesota Metrology Seminar
In 2016, the Innocence Project of Minnesota caught wind of Chuck and Dan's efforts to force the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to adopt and apply basic scientific principles towards DWI blood, breath, and urine tests. They were invited to speak at a seminar geared towards educating the public and other defense attorneys regarding the necessary tools to ensure that the innocent are not wrongfully convicted, whether they are facing a murder charge or are involved in a DWI case.

Minnesota State Bar Association - Criminal Law Section
Founded in 1883, the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) is the oldest professional association for attorneys in Minnesota. Dan is a member of the Executive Council for the Criminal Law Section of this long-standing organization, working together with other defense attorneys and prosecutors to draft legislation and write position papers regarding various issues that affect criminal defense in Minnesota.
